Some metrics are reactive: they mislead you and hide problems until it’s too late.
Others are proactive.
Example of reactive metrics include profit (it measures yesterday’s success) and deaths on the workplace (you will only know that you have a safety problem after someone died).
Instead, proactive metrics measure the behavior that are good for your long term and make you aware of problems early on, when you are still in time to prevent damage.
