There are two types of disciplined people: those who take consistent action through sheer willpower and those who do it without the use of willpower.
Here are my favorite books, papers, and readings about ergodicity and ergodicity economics.
1. Ergodicity: How irreversible outcomes affect long-term performance in work, investing, relationships, sport, and beyond (3rd edition)
2. Ergodicity Economics
This is the seminal paper on Ergodicity by Ole Peters and Alexander Adamou (link). It’s very technical, but if you grok math you will gain a deep understanding of some of the mechanics underlying ergodicity.
3. The ergodicity solution of the cooperation puzzle
Another paper by Peters and Adamou, this one explores more in depth how ergodicity explains cooperation (link).
