What I've learned is this: successful adoption of any new habit or technology, including AI, is 20% about the habit or technology and 80% about how managers introduce it to their teams.
When a transformation initiative is trickled down, employees ask themselves:
- Will embracing AI make my job safer or less safe?
- Will this make my job easier or harder?
- Is this just another initiative that will result in a waste of time, or is it something that's truly here to stay?
- Is my manager fully onboard?
- Is my manager able to explain how exactly I am supposed to change my behavior over the next few weeks?
- Is he or she able to train me so that the experience won't be frustrating?
